Interactive Installations

White Walls

2012

This piece is an interactive sound sculpture where viewers were invited to place their ears along the walls to listen to audio clips. Embedded behind a freestanding drywall cube, I used the walls to focus sounds like a speaker so that no matter where the viewer placed his ear he was able to hear the sounds. This piece was meant to encourage the viewers to intimately engage with the wall where the act of placing their ear against the wall focused the sound. In this work I wanted to create a space that was reminiscent of what if felt like as a child listening in on conversations I was excluded from.

Unraveling

20012

This piece used a crochet blanket that functioned as a screen onto which I projected old home videos. The viewers were invited to unravel the blanket by pulling on a single strand. As the blanket unraveled the projection of the home videos faded until neither the blanket nor the videos existed. This piece was an investigation into how memories fade over time.

Filter Through

2011

Collaboration with Kally Malcom

This pieces was the first of my works that incorporated craft and technology. In this piece I created a large net-like sculpture that viewers were allowed to walk through, then projected moving images on top. This caused the sculpture to feel as if it was constantly shifting and changing. This piece was an investigation into how I could combine craft materials and technology to create a unique experience for the viewer.
